Da Chosen 1

Just about every artist who started their online career at an early age had that first "special snowflake" OC. Well, ol' Nightstar here was mine. Few pictures of her remain in this gallery, as her era was already beginning to fade out by the time I joined dA, but she was a very big part of my earliest BaltoSource days as well as the days when I "stalked" the internet, but didn't actually have an account anywhere (except, you know, Neopets and Webkinz and the like.)

Nightstar was the subject of a prophecy in the Tribe of the North, one of four wolf tribes that met together once a moon in a special meeting place (the Warrior Cats influence is strong in this one.) As such, she was sometimes referred to as the "chosen one" of the Tribe and has special powers. Exactly what her powers were changed a lot over the time she was used; some include, but are not necessarily limited to, super speed/strength, power to control the four elements (the Avatar influence was also strong), and power to shape-shift into a flying wolf and an aquatic wolf. Whatever her powers were, though, her eyes and stars always glowed while they were activated (Avatar State, much?)

Before Nightstar was born, there was another wolf in the Tribe that the leaders suspected to be the chosen one: an aqua..."wolf" with pink markings named Aqua-Amethyst (she was indeed a wolf in the story, but I hesitate to call her that now because uuuggghhh wolves aren't aqua and pink. Barf.) Aqua was a snob. When Nightstar was born and her true status revealed, Aqua was angry and jealous. This lead to her being Nightstar's rival and despising her for no solid reason.

Nightstar also had a mate named Ohzu (pronounced "oat-zoo") and a grand total of 24 puppies, about half of which were from the first litter alone. The other two litters never really got much attention though. They just kind of...existed. I remember the names Boulder, Blaze, Lunar, Howlingstar, Shadow (I think?), Hope, and Faith, but the other 17 are lost on me nowadays. Boulder was the firstborn and the "leader", Blaze was a notorious tail-biter, Lunar was the favorite, and either Hope or Faith was really shy--I can't remember which one.
